This time, meet Sait Dundar from Turkey! Sait is pursuing his Ph.D in Bio-Medical Imaging at Abdullah Gal University, and came to BGU for his research!
1. Favorite Hebrew word:
Sababa (Slang for “good”). A word that suits most questions. For example, if your friends ask ‘let’s go for a couple of beers’, you just say ‘Sababa’!
2. Hummus or Falafel?
Falafel! We eat a lot of hummus in Turkey, so Falafel was kind of different for me
3. Why Israel?
First – I study engineering, and Israel has a high-tech industry. Second – the land is so historical, Jerusalem is the Holly city for most religions, and I really wanted to visit Jerusalem also.
My experience is good, I got to know most of the international students. The local people are so helpful, the only frustrating thing is that they think that I’m also Israeli all the time – and always talk to me in Hebrew until I explain I’m not Israeli
4. Favorite Be’er-Sheva activity?
Language exchange nights! It’s a chance to meet people from all over the world and learn other languages. I go to Spanish table (I knew before and practice my Spanish here) and I went to the Hebrew table a few times
5. What’s your hidden talent?
I’m a Latin dancer . I dance Salsa and a little bit Bachata. At my home country Turkey I used to dance a lot with my girlfriend. And it’s not hidden, but I’m also an amateur photographer – I like to take nature photos (pictures – in the comments).
6. What’s one thing about you that surprises people?
That I’m also a skier. We have the Ercİyes Mountain close to my hometown, which is a ski center and I go there a lot
7. If you could instantly become an expert in something, what would it be?
Languages. To talk with all the people. There are so many different cultures, people, hobbies, life styles – I’d like to hear them .
8. What’s your guilty pleasure?
Chocolates and desserts. Every time I eat too much and regret it
9. If you could have one super power, what would it be?
Teleportation. You can go anywhere, wherever you want instantly. Maybe I’d start with traveling to Latin America
10. What did you want to do when you were little, and now what’s your dream job?
When I was little, I used to dream about building my own robots . And now – engineering is the closest thing to my dream job. I’m also doing artificial intelligence, it was kind of a dream for me before, but now we use it in our daily lives.
