#Off_the_record with Rick van Essen , The Netherlands!

This time, meet Rick van Essen from The Netherlands! 🇳🇱 Rick is pursuing his Master’s in Bio-systems engineering at Wageningen University and came to Israel to participate in our Internship program! 👨‍🎓
Now for the fun stuff:
1. Favorite Hebrew word?
Shalom (hello/peace) – it’s quite easy because you can use it for everything! For saying hello, for Shabbat shalom. So useful 😁
2. Hummus or falafel?
Both together! You have to like it, otherwise, you have a problem here – it’s everywhere 😂 and it’s very good 🥙
3. Why Israel?
I chose to study at BGU because of the subject of my internship, and that’s a great country, amazing history, good weather. My experience so far is really good, it’s great that it’s a nice country so you can travel quite easy, people are very friendly and nice.
4. Favorite Be’er Sheva activity?
Running throughout all the parks in Be’er Sheva in the evening 🏃‍♂and going to the pool 💦
5. What’s one thing about you that surprises people?
I’m really calm, and I don’t get upset easily. I never get angry with people, it’s really hard to make me angry. I can get upset maybe when people are saying that they want to do something, but don’t do it after all.

6. if you could instantly become an expert in something – what would it be?
I want to instantly learn languages 🔮 For example – Hebrew would be so easy for me if I had this ability! I’d start with Hebrew because I’m here, and I’ll probably improve my German also because later I’ll probably better use it than Hebrew.
7. If you had a million shekels, what would you do?
I’d do a tour around a lot of countries 🌍 use the new ability that I chose – languages, and also – give to other people from the money.
8. What’s your BGU moment?
The last weekend trip to the dead sea. It was really beautiful ✨
