#Off_the_record with Lei Tian, China!

This time, meet Lei Tian from Chengdu, China! 🇨🇳 Lei is pursuing her PhD in Micro-Biology at Sichuan University, and came to Israel for a year (Doc Sandwich program), working on a research that it’s topic is intestinal microbes and kidney stones 🎓
Now for the fun stuff 💃
1. Favorite Hebrew word?
Shalom (hello & peace) 👋🕊, we often use it in our daily lives, and Sababa (slang for “good”) 👍, also so useful!
2. Why Israel?
I had some friends that came to BGU for an exchange program and afterwards brought to China a notebook with the caption – “Be different. Be you. BGU” 📒, and I liked this sentence, it’s just what I have in mind! I want to be different and make some difference, I want to be special and be a better human 😇
3. Favorite Be’er Sheva activity?
The trips organized by the international office 🌅, they always take us to a very special and different places, to make us explore and know more about Israel. Tamar the social counselor is very friendly and always helps me, she and the international office made our life in Israel really great. BGU provides the international students so many opportunities and Israel is very special, I’m really enjoying the life here – I can meet a lot of people and try so many different things.
4. What’s your hidden talent?
I really like to paint and create handcrafts 🎨🖌 Usually, I’m making it as presents for my friends (pictures in the comments). I also like to play some instruments – piano, keyboard 🎹 and I taught myself to play the harmonica. I really like music and singing songs, I think that music can bring so much happiness

5. If you could have one super power, what would it be?
Read minds 🔮
6. What surprised you about Israel?
I found out that the retirement age in Israel is very late compared to China! 😯 In China the retirement age is when people are almost 50 years old, and here it’s 67 for men and 62 for women. I saw two elder ladies here doing experiment, their age is just like my grandma, in this age in China they’re enjoying their retirement life, but here they are still working.
7. What’s your dream job?
I want to open a place that sells desserts that I will make 🍰🍪🍨🍡 and people will be able to make some handcrafts 🖌
